Salinas Californian
Novel 'Jasmine Dogs' takes Big Sur as its backdrop

In her work, Winslow addresses such sweeping themes as life, love and death, but she flavors this melange with a touch of the supernatural in "Jasmine Dogs."

Early on, Dyanna is warned by a local Indian mystic of the existence of the legendary Jasmine Dogs. Working for the Angel of Death, they roam the coastline hills and, purportedly, warn a person "when the time has come for death to take his catch."

Those who enjoy a novel with mystical underpinnings and a local setting will find this an enjoyable read.

Thank you so much for your gift! It was a wonderful novel. The story was filled with all the qualities I look forward to, when I read a book! Having seen your picture, I immediately connected you to our heroine! Your description and growth of the personalities in the story are excellent!

Variety is the spice of life, J.W.: there are some great exotic scenes, fun times and very touching times. it keeps you turning the page. I look forward to reading Volume II. GREAT JOB ON THE ENDING! Very unexpected.

WOW! I finished "Jasmine Dogs" three night ago and the ending is still hanging in my mind: What a great cliff hanger!!! So much possibility. A miniseries in the making. I enjoyed it. I'm proud of you.

You interviewed Terry from the Shakespeare Society recently on your show and so graciously signed and gave him a copy of your book, Jasmine Dogs. What a refreshing piece...I totally enjoyed the storyline, setting and writring style and look forward to the next set in the series! There will be more I hope! Look forward to immersing myself in another adventure!

I have started Jasmine Dogs and am loving it! The pleasure of food, art, and the opposite sex is apparent from the first page; what woman could put a book like that down? So far, the book has been very light-hearted, a quality lacking in society. Everything has been so fast paced in my life currently and deadlines are around every corner. At least I know that before I go to sleep, I can crawl under the covers and relax with Jasmine Dogs! Thank you!!

If you are looking for a book with all the twists and turns of Highway 1 then Jasmine Dogs is just what you are looking for. From chapter one to the end, this very interesting cast of characters will keep you involved and on the edge of your seat. An excellent mixture of romance and mystery, this novel is a real page turner. If you haven’t read Jasmine Dogs, pick it up. You’ll be so glad you did!

Thank you for sending the wonderful book....I READ IT ALL in two daily spurts...it was hard to put down. Truly it was great...a little intrigue, erotic, and yes I did escape by reading it. I see it being a movie! There hasn't been a good movie about big sur since Sandpiper...I can't wait to read it again....great movie material. AND OH by the way...I am now refreshing my memory with Sensual Indigo...

I hate to tell you this………but I LOVE THE BOOK……when can I get a copy of volume 2? I just can’t put it down and am hungry for more! I’ve decided to buy a copy for my 72 year old very Italian Catholic cousin who just had surgery and I’d like to have you sign it for her. It’s sure to cure her ills or at least take her mind off of them! What fun!
(You never said it was a TRAGEDY…..and I was having so much fun……….loving Big Sur as I do………….and now I’m just numb! Yes! That was an unexpected ending! Great job!*)

I love, love, love Jasmine Dogs !!! I am so excited about Dyanna Falconer; she is an amazing women. I enjoyed following Dyanna through the L.A. areas I know so well. I am glad to know her body was not found; hope that she will return! I liked the physicality of the book, the book cover is beautiful, font is the perfect size and the shape is beautiful.

Thank you for your July poem, I have read it several times and it fills me with joy.

d,

I only meant to take a quick peek at JASMINE DOGS, but the prologue pulled me right in and I had read an entire chapter before I realized I was going to be late for an appointment. Your writing is addictive, and I can't wait to get back to it! Even better, it makes me feel good to be reading a book that was produced with such love for the Earth.

Big Sur, the Monterey Peninsula and Esalen provide beautiful settings for this romantic mystery. Detailed descriptions of scenery, characters, and sexual activities make the plots come alive in this fast-paced novel about life on the Central Coast, with frequent side trips to Hollywood and Los Angeles. I recommend it for all.

-- Jean Stallings, Monterey, CA

Fred and I just got back from Mexico. We so enjoyed your idea to read the book together. What a surprise ending! What sexy scenes. Fun read and grabs you, in more ways than one.
